DAY 1- PROGRAMME #1- STRANGE ENCOUNTERS
Powerful stories of self-discovery, survival, and human curiosity unfold through some odd, sinister, eerie, or simply baffling encounters. From dystopian and otherworldly societies to simply random everyday events, ASFF23's first programme is full of controversies.
What are the boundaries of reality?
DAY 1- PROGRAMME #2- THIS IS OUR STORY: FEMALE GAZE
Through the stories of women from around the world, this programme puts the patriarchal society under the microscope and examines the male gaze through the female perspective. This programme aims to serve as a platform where the female voice will be heard through real stories and personal struggles.
DAY 2- PROGRAMME #1- A WILD WORLD
A forest, a desert, and the remote slopes of Turkey's Black Sea region compose the scenery of the human stories, habits and cultures that unravel in this programme. In the existential crises, bittersweet echoes of lost loves and turbulent family relationships that unfold through these shorts, the landscape plays the main role taking you on a journey to distant places that sometimes feel closer than you think.
DAY 2- PROGRAMME #2- SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME
Through these 8 comedy, drama and romantic films we are going back to first loves, missing lost ones, exploring unknown sexual experiences and relearning to like ourselves. With films to make you laugh, cry, and think of your own experiences, this programme puts emotions in the epicentre and presents stories of love, lust, sex and romance that will make your soul melt.
DAY 3- PROGRAMME #1- EXPLORING IDENTITIES
A lonely man reflects upon himself on a remote island, a non-binary person unravels their family’s queerness while a man is forced to hide his own. Exploring sexuality, prejudices, decisions, wishes and mistakes, this programme inspires you to dive deep into these fictional characters and reconsider your true self through their stories.
DAY 3- PROGRAMME #2- PARALLEL REALITIES
Alternative universes, opposite perspectives and absurd situations will make you escape the rural setting and take you on a journey that has in store various alternative universes. These parallel realities attempt to transfer you away from your own experiences, understandings and mindsets and leave you wondering.
